Methadone is a synthetic stimulant of the phenethylamine, amphetamine, and cathinone classes. Significant abuse of this new designer drug, also known as 4-methoxymethcathinone, methoxyphedrine, or bk-PMMA, has been reported in Sweden, the UK, Poland, and states including Louisiana and Kentucky.
